Biography - Statement
Gilivanka Kedzior, born in Toulouse (France) in 1976, holds a Master of Fine Arts from the Institut Supérieur des Beaux-Arts of Besançon. She also graduated from the University Toulouse - Jean Jaurès in Art History and in Psychology.
Her work has been widely presented, exhibited and discussed in numerous international festivals, universities, galleries, museums and in situ on the five continents, and notably at the National Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma in Helsinki, in collaboration with the Institut français de Finlande; at the British Film Institute, London, United Kingdom; at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Oran, Algeria; the Isfahan Contemporary Art Museum, Isfahan, Iran; the Schusev State Museum of Architecture, Moscow, Russia; MACA Junin - Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Argentino, Buenos Aires, Argentina; MIS/SC - Museum of Image and Sound, Florianópolis, Brazil; CAM - Casoria Contemporary Art Museum, Naples, Italy; Tree Gallery, 798 Art District, Beijing, China; or yet at the Panjab University Fine Arts Gallery, Chandigarh, India; the Universidad de la Rioja, Logroño, Spain, and at the University of California at Santa Cruz, in the United States.
Through her practice of Performance Art, Gilivanka Kedzior deploys in the here and now actions specific to the moment, place and public which occupies it. Stemming from a diverted daily life rekindling the memory of the body, these actions put to the test an acquired gesture, a conditioning bearer of a story of its own, but also resonance of other stories.
The frequently repetitive, durational, grueling nature of these operations leads her to experience the paradox of contemplation in action and the transformation of the space-time of the performance; when they are interactive or participative, surprising communions sometimes occur with the audience.
The processes at work during these liminal experiences feed a research in which she questions the body as a tool of resistance and the accession to quintessence, to a certain form of mystique through the performative act. Texts, photographs, videos and residual objects serve as anchor points for the memory, the most faithful trace of the performance in her body and that of the witnesses.
Her most recent works analyze the construction of meaning from the memory of an ephemeral event. Grouped under the title of Anatopisms, they develop in a collection of memories and - in reflection with it - in a series of actions, an installation and a performative exhibition of objects.

Gilivanka Kedzior, née à Toulouse (31) en 1976, est titulaire d’un Diplôme National Supérieur d’Expression Plastique option Art de l’Institut Supérieur des Beaux-Arts de Besançon. Elle est également diplômée de l’Université Toulouse - Jean Jaurès en Histoire de l’Art et en Psychologie.

À travers sa pratique de l’Art Performance, Gilivanka Kedzior déploie dans l’ici et maintenant des actions spécifiques au moment, au lieu et au public qui l’occupe. Issues d’un quotidien détourné ravivant la mémoire du corps, ces actions éprouvent une gestuelle acquise, un conditionnement porteur d’une histoire propre, mais également résonance d’autres histoires.
Le caractère fréquemment répétitif, durationnel, éreintant de ces manœuvres l’amène à expérimenter le paradoxe de la contemplation dans l’action et la transformation de l’espace-temps de la performance ; lorsqu’elles sont interactives ou participatives, de surprenantes communions s’opèrent parfois avec l’assistance.
Les processus à l’œuvre lors de ces expériences liminales nourrissent une recherche dans laquelle elle interroge le corps comme outil de résistance et l’accession à la quintessence, à une certaine forme de mystique par l’acte performatif. Textes, photographies, vidéos et objets résiduels servent de points d’ancrage au souvenir, trace la plus fidèle de la performance dans son corps et celui des témoins.
Ses travaux les plus récents analysent la construction du sens à partir de la mémoire d’un événement éphémère. Regroupés sous le titre d’Anatopismes, ils se développent dans un recueil de souvenirs et - en réflexion avec celui-ci - dans une série d’actions, une installation et une exposition performative d’objets.
